Digital X-RAY

What is Digital X-Ray ?

Digital radiography (DR) represents an advanced technique for x-ray examination, instantly generating a digital radiographic image on a computer screen. Compared to traditional X-rays, digital X-rays emit 80% less radiation. In certain X-ray examinations, such as those involving the uterus, genitourinary system, or bowel, a contrast medium like iodine or barium is introduced into the body to enhance image clarity.

The imaging procedures involve minimal radiation exposure, resulting in no discernible side effects from digital X-rays. Nevertheless, it is advisable to avoid them during pregnancy to prevent potential harm to the unborn child.

Digital X-ray images of various body parts, including the chest, abdomen, kidney-urethra-bladder (KUB), spine, and different bones and joints, can be obtained. One notable advantage of digital X-rays is their near-instantaneous image production, eliminating the need to wait for film development. Consequently, exam results can be promptly accessed and analyzed.
