2D Echocardiography

What is 2D Echocardiography

An echocardiogram, often referred to as a "heart ultrasound" or simply an "echo," is a common medical procedure. It offers your doctor valuable insights into your heart's performance, aids in identifying any potential issues, and assists in formulating treatment plans for emerging conditions.

2D Echocardiogram is done to detect the following heart conditions:

  • Any preexisting heart conditions or irregularities

  • Congenital heart defects and the presence of blood clots or tumors

  • Heart valve dysfunction

  • Irregular blood circulation within the heart

2D Echo Procedure

In a 2D echocardiography examination, a medical professional positions a compact transducer on the patient's chest. This transducer emits and receives high-frequency sound waves, generating a visual representation of the heart using a sophisticated 2D echocardiogram device. These visualizations are presented on a monitor, enabling the healthcare provider to assess the heart's dimensions, configuration, and performance.
